Int. CH Windycanyon's Roxbury Russet CD RA JH CC

Birthdate: January 30th, 2015.

"Russell" is a happy, gentle boy whether in the show ring, obedience ring or hunt test field. He has never met a stranger-- human, canine, or other animal.  He has a "bombproof" temperament. He is an ATD certified and tested therapy dog so that he can comfort crime victims in the courthouse setting. He also enjoys doing "Read to a Dog" events with kids at the local library.

Russell started and finished three rally/obedience titles going three for three each time in Summer 2017, with limited practice. He finished his CD title with a score of 193 and a class 1st. Even with his bumbling owner (reading while walking is not for me) he finished his rally advanced title in three attempts in Autumn 2019. Russell loves to be in the exciting show environment, yet has nice focus and self control. In 2023, he earned the first leg of his graduate novice obedience title his first time out in the class, and finished the title in March 2024.

He is very birdy and loves getting into heavy cover to flush everything with feathers. He finished both his AKC junior hunter (JH) and HRC started titles in four tests each. He reliably retrieves to hand with minimal training.

Russell earned his UKC Grand Championship in 2019. With limited AKC showing he has also earned WD (1 point), a RWD, and class placements. At just four months old he earned an AKC Best Puppy in Match. In 2023, he earned his LRC conformation certificate and a class win in 8-10 year old veteran dogs at LRC National events week.

Russell has produced offspring earning hunt test titles in his first litter; an AKC senior hunter working on master, and HRC started hunting retrievers so far.

Russell is at stud to approved bitches. Stud fee may be discounted for titled bitches. OFA (or equivalent) hip, elbow, eye, and cardiac echo clearances are required. If you'd like to learn more about why cardiac echo clearances are important for breeding dogs, how to find a vet cardiologist, or help locating a discount echo clinic please contact me.
